I AM COMING FOR THE CAKE!!!
We can see that there is an increase in the cake size lately. Couples want big over the top cakes. They are after the ‘Wow’ factor when their guests see the cake. They are daring to step out of their comfort zone and go beyond the basic vanilla cake.
Personalization is set to be a huge trend for 2015 as couples look to create something truly unique and different for their wedding. I’ve been seeing couples becoming brave with experimenting with different flavors and extravagant details and designs.
The budget for the cake is going up, as couples are dedicating more for this element and thinking of also a beautiful masterpiece to treat their guests with. The wedding cake can be a large multi-layered cake of a pyramid of cupcakes or small single desserts served to their guests as favors.
Among the most popular cakes for 2015 are: Butter cream cakes, French influence treats with macaroons pyramid are a hot trend
Floral design cakes, naked cake, and uniquely flavored cakes with a metallic color (gold, silver or rose-gold) are still in . Couples are encouraged to personalize their cake and inject their own story just like with all the other elements in their wedding to leave the guests with something to talk about. Thus, even the cake has a story and personality.
Some of the most common details added to the cake to give it texture and add to the overall finish and appeal are edible lace, flowers and pearls. There are so many amazing cake designers these days, I am not surprised that couples are not very sure about the flavor. As a wedding planner it is my duty to ensure that the taste of the cake is as good as the design.
The flavors I am finding these days that are highly requested are vanilla with salted caramel filling and chocolate with hazelnut filling. I love incorporating flowers or metallic colors for the design. The beauty in using metallic colors for the little details on the cake is that it goes well with the rest of the wedding décor and details.
Last but not least the sweet table is also a statement in the making when it comes to designs. they can be a mini version of the bridal cake. They look adorable and can be placed on every plate
My last advice for you beautiful brides is that keep the cake classical don’t go to crazy with it, just add a little touch of detail with color or design patterns.
